Attention all Cast Iron Dutch Oven Cooking Experts and Novices!
Bring your cast iron Dutch oven(s), your best secrets/tips and
your favorite award winning recipes to the Texarkana Rally.
Schedule:
Friday - presentation on Cast Iron Dutch Oven Cooking - time/room unknown
Saturday - we will gather to prepare/cook 9:00
- Tasting event -11:00
But keep watching here and in the Arkansams Newsletter, but make plans
to participate in a round table discussion about cast iron Dutch Oven
cooking sponsored by Whispering Pines Travelers. Then plan on cooking
your favorite recipe (meal, cobbler, pie, cake, whatever) to enter in
the Cast Iron Dutch Oven Master Cooking Contest.
We are working on prizes for the top 3 vote getters.
You may cook multiple recipes, but you can only have 1 winner
(trying give everyone else a chance).
We are still working on details. We do know that we'll be cooking outside
and the charcoal fire/cooking has to be in a fire ring or container. I would
expect that they will restrict us to some container to keep the coals off
the ground.
Anyone interested in participating is asked to email Duke Monroe with
Whispering Pines, he makes the best Dutch Oven peach cobbler this side
of the Arkansas/Texas 4 States Fair Grounds. Any challengers?
