Mary Lou Hunter Mahurin

Born: September 13, 1936

Died: January 25, 2020

 

Mary Lou Hunter Mahurin , 83 of Star City passed away Saturday,

January 25, 2020 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

She was born September 13, 1936 in Detroit MI to the late

Howard and Myrtie Rector Harrison.

 

She was a retired Secretary, member of the First Baptist Church in Star City,

a member of the Lincoln County EHC where she was Secretary/Treasurer

and had been a member for over 25 years. Mary Lou had a love of music

and played numerous string instruments, she was also a skilled artist.

Mary Lou was known to all as a selfless God fearing woman who always put others first.

 

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Hunter

and a brother, James "Jim" Harrison.

Survivors include her husband, John Mahurin of Star City, one son, Howard Hunter

(Ashley) of Star City, one daughter, Jill McCathran (Eric) of Shreveport La.

and three step daughters, Sandy Cockrell (Mike) of Rogers, Ar.

 

Other Survivors include seven grandchildren, Zachary McCathran, Matthew McCathran,

Audrey Bush, Tyler Hunter, Landon Hunter, Braden Hunter, Cash Hunter,

three step grandchildren, Cole, Caleb and Gracie Muckleroy, and

Ten Great Grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Service

in Star City. Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Griffin Funeral

Chapel in Star City, with Dr. Marcus Rogers officiating. Burial will be in

Hickory Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
