Born: March 10, 1926
Died: November 10, 2016

Melvin 'Spud' Beason, age 90 of Malvern, died Thursday morning, November 10, 2016
at Arbor Oaks. He was born on March 10, 1926 in Saginaw to the late
Taylor Beason and Dillie Davis Beason. Reared and educated in Hot Spring
County, he retired as foreman from National Lead. Spud was a member and
deacon of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed going camping
and was a member of Spa City Sams camping club.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ballweg Beason, to whom he was married
on December 24, 1949 in Malvern; by his sons, David Andrew Beason of San
Manuel, Arizona, and Richard T. Beason (Latisa) of Malvern; by a
granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Spud was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Melvin Beason, five sisters and a brother.

His funeral will be at two o’clock Friday afternoon, November 11, 2016 in
the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Donis Smead and Brother
David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Ouachita Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at one o’clock.

Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Elrod, Eli Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Clay Pierce,
J. C. Marks, and Mark Wheatley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Food Bank
Backpack Program, or the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
