"Molly Ozell Abernathy, age 90, of
Marion, AR passed away peacefully on
August 27, 2026
after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was
born on March 2, 1936
in Black Oak, AR to the late Clara and Harvey
Smith. She was a member of Missouri
Street Church of Christ due to
lifelong Christian faith. She was
retired from American Greetings of
Osceola, AR and a lifelong member of
Good Sam's Camping Club.
Along with her parents, she was preceded
in death by her brothers,
Donald Smith and Luther Rip Smith;
sisters Sammie Treadway, Eva May
McCarthy and brother in love C. W. Hinton.
She is survived by her husband of 72
years Orlan Abernathy, Sr.; sons
Marvin (Penny Battle) of Byhalia, MS,
Orlan Jr. (Margie) of Pike Road, AL;
grandsons Orlan Les III (Camille) of
Montgomery, AL, Joshua ( Dana) of
Prattville, AL; great grandchildren
Clara, Collier, and Malcolm; brothers T.
B. Smith (Lorene) of Monette, AR, Walt
Smith (Joanne) of Burton, MI;
sister in love Betty Hinton of West
Memphis, AR and numerous nieces,
nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on
September 1, 2026 at 2:00pm at Gregg-
Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will precede the
service starting at 1. Burial to follow
at Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro,
AR.
Honored
to serve as pallbearers are Tye Clothier, Rory Gorrell, Dwayne Hicks, Jeff
Hinton, Justin Hinton, and Gerald Ochs.
Honorary
pallbearers are Joshua Abernathy and Les Abernathy.
Though She's gone, She
is not forgotten.
Though absent, She remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, She now rests.
